Swirly Foil Kusudama

In my opinion, this one is the coolest-looking of the bunch. Since you have to be able to curl the paper and have it stay, it's easiest to use foil paper. This also uses 30 modules, which takes me an hour or two. But since it's made of foil, its easy breakable and will smush easily. Here's a tutorial. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lm2JEhBvxCg

Cherry Blossom Kusudama

This is a really nice one, especially since it has a cool flower pattern on it. It's made of 30 modules, and it takes me about an hour or two to make. It's one of those ones where it's hard to put together, and even sometimes I have trouble doing it. Golden Venture Origami

This is probably the hardest type of origami I've made before. Just to make a simple pencil holder, you need around 800 units, depending on the size. It takes about 20 pieces of paper. Even though each unit takes only 20 seconds to make, assembling it takes about another 3-4 hours.

The fastest I've ever made one would be in three days, but only because it was over the summer and I had nothing to do at all. It takes a lot of patience and commitment, yet I have no idea how I'm able to do it.

You can make just about anything if you make a pattern for it. A lot of Japanese stores (like Daiso, they have ones for $1.50) have kits for mini animals and such. Those take a lot less time and they sometimes have better patterns.

Modular Star

This is probably the easiest of the modular creations I make. It uses 30 modules, which only takes me about 45 minutes to make.

I made a whole bunch and put them as decorations in my room.

You can even up-size the paper to

make a giant star, which you can hang in your room. I hung mine under a ceiling light.

I even throw them at my brother when he annoys me sometimes.

Origami Flower Ball

This is my origami flower kusudama. It has 12 flower modules, but you have to make 60 petals in total. For me it takes about 2-3 hours because there's 60 little individual modules you have to make, as where the average number is usually around 30.

You can also make one where you make half of the ball and put a string on it so you can hang it against a wall.
